We are excited to have had the Parent-Student Portal this school year and will be expanding the features available in the next year. Thank you for your patience as we work with this feature and add new features that we find will be helpful to our parents and teachers. If you are having trouble with or have questions about the portal, we hope this page can help you. Please note the video tutorial at the bottom of this page, which might be useful for you as you navigate the portal.
HOW DO I LOG IN TO THE PORTAL?
Go to the Parent/Student Portal by clicking on the MyCDS link at the top of the Covenant Day website. Once you click on the red Parent/Student Portal button, it will open a page that says LOGIN with a space for your username and password. All returning parents and returning high school students* will continue to use the same username and password used during the 17-18 school year. Remember that your username is NOT your email address and many usernames may have a period as part of them. The password must be typed EXACTLY as you have it set up, including capital and small letters.
New parents received their username and a link to set up their password on June 7.
*New high school students will receive their login information in July 2018 at the email address we have on file (which in most cases is the parents' email address). Only high school students will have their own logins and this is for interacting with their classes. We will have more information about how they can set up their own profile in the July email. They will not need their own login until school starts.
WHAT IF I DON'T REMEMBER MY USERNAME AND/OR PASSWORD?
Once you are on the portal login page (after you click the red login button), click the "Forgot Username or Password" link (below the username and password fields). You will need to use the email address that is connected to your account, which should be the one that Covenant Day School has on file as your primary email address. Instructions will then be emailed to you with your login information. If you receive a message that says "No username exists for the specified email address," please contact Kelly Keesling.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A PROFILE?
If your family uses only one email address, or you gave only one email address to Covenant Day School for our database, only one profile could be created for your family (mother OR father). However, you may want both parents to receive emails from the school, and therefore may want two login profiles. Both will lead to the same information for your child(ren) in the portal, but will give each parent options to subscribe to certain announcements and receive all emails sent to parents. If you would like to add a profile for a second parent, please contact Kim Macurda with each parent's name and corresponding email address with a note that you would like a second profile created in the portal.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY PASSWORD TO SOMETHING THAT IS EASIER TO REMEMBER?
Once you are in the portal, hover over your name in the top left hand corner. It will drop down a list of items. Click “Change Password” and your profile will pop up with the page where you can change your password. Note that you need to know your current password to be able to change it.
