Discipleship

Covenant Day School is a Christ-centered community where biblical truth is woven into the entire curriculum. Throughout the week, students are given opportunities to grow in their faith, worship and pray with their classmates, and build a community of friends centered around Christ.

Covenant Day School’s Moms in Prayer groups meet weekly during the school year. This is a time for CDS moms to join together to pray for the Covenant Day School community. Moms in Prayer is an international organization that impacts children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. If you are interested in participating in this prayer group, please contact Courtney Latta or Mindy McMurry.

Chapel

Students join together weekly for an opportunity to worship together in a small community setting. Chapels are separated by age and include praise songs, scripture reading, and a message from guest speakers, principals, or teachers.

Bible Studies

Bible studies are small discipleship groups that are usually organized and led by students. These take place before and after school.

Homeroom Devotions

Each day during homeroom, teachers lead a devotional for students. Students have the opportunity to share prayer requests and pray for one another during this time.

High School Advisory

High School Advisory Groups, led by teachers, take place weekly. These groups stay together all year long. During this small group discipleship time, students learn more about the annual spiritual theme, report on their academic progress, and pray together.

Missions

The impact of students at Covenant Day extends far beyond Matthews, NC. Students have been on school-sponsored mission trips to Spain, Haiti, and Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Additionally students from JK-12 serve in the local community throughout the year as they seek to be salt and light for God’s glory. Students also participate in a Missions Week each year where they hear from missionaries from around the world, learn about culture, and participate in a variety of activities.

Staff & Faculty Devotions

Several times every week, teachers gather before homeroom to pray for one another and their students. Additionally, the entire faculty and staff meet quarterly for worship and devotions.
