Varsity Swimming

Swimming is a unique sport. Being successful requires tremendous personal drive and commitment. The CDS swim team seeks to Glorify Christ, understand what that means through sports, and demonstrate to others the difference Christ makes in us.

As coaches, we are committed to:

1. Establishing a supportive learning environment for all swimmers, regardless of skill level.

2. Providing positive motivation that encourages everyone to develop their athletic, scholastic, and life skills, including leadership, determination, courage, self-awareness/self-confidence, goal setting, problem-solving, and respect for others.

3. Generating swimmers’ enthusiasm for their sport, team, and school.

As a team we COMPETE with integrity, we swim hard, we persevere, and we finish strong. We CHALLENGE ourselves and each other to excel and overcome obstacles, We COMMIT to each other, encouraging and supporting one another during practice and meets. Finally, we RESPECT our teammates, competitors, officials, and supporters. What we are is God’s gift to us. What we become is our gift to God.

Conference

Varsity Swimming competes in the Charlotte Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA), which includes Cannon School, Charlotte Christian, Charlotte Country Day, Charlotte Latin, and Providence Day. At the state level, Varsity Swimming competes in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA). We are a Division I school.

Facilities

• CDS Main Gym: Located in the CDS Middle School
• Fitness Center: Opened in 2016
