Hobbies: My favorite hobby is reading.
Fun Fact: I have coached Track & Field, Cross Country and/or Strength & Conditioning every year since 1982. I am most proud of helping to build the Strength & Conditioning program at CDS. Also, I recently purchased a ruck sack.
Abby Cotton '16 | Assistant Coach
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
Education: B.A., Samford University. MA, University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
Started coaching at CDS: I have been involved with coaching CDS athletics since 2015, but I became an official coach in 2022.
Favorite CDS sports memory and biggest athletic accomplishments: As an athlete, my favorite memory was being volleyball state runners-up three times and setting the school record in 4x4 in 2016. As a coach, my favorite memory is coaching my 4x4 team this spring to beat my own record! I was so proud of the team’s accomplishment it brought many happy tears to my eyes! I am also proud of myself for leaving a legacy worth breaking. By far one of the coolest full circle moments during my time being back at CDS.
Hobbies: I enjoy hiking, running, and reading.

Emmanuel Commodore I Assistant Coach
Josh Nguyen I Assistant Coach
Coach Nguyen is from Indian Trail, NC and attended Porter Ridge High School. He competed on the football team at Porter Ridge where he was the starting varsity defensive tackle for three years. He earned All-Conference honors in back-to-back seasons and was named team MVP in 2009. Nguyen was also a member of the varsity track and field team at Porter Ridge and went on to play football and throw shot put and discus at Guilford College for two years. He was nominated as Freshman Player of the Year for the ODAC Football Conference while playing at Guilford. Coach Nguyen later transferred to UNC-Charlotte in 2011 where he earned his BS in Religious Studies. His coaching experience includes two years with the Carmel Covenant Cats before joining the coaching staff for Covenant Day in 2016.Emmanuel Commodore I Asst. Coach

Favorite CDS sports memory: Winning the conference title in Varsity Boys Cross Country and snapping Providence Day’s 22-year streak.
Hobbies: My hobbies include going on as many fun outings with my family of 6, reading Supreme Court opinions, and serving in teaching roles at his church.
