David Houseton I Head Coach
Coach Houseton hails from Youngstown, OH but calls the Charlotte area his home. He played two years of varsity baseball at Charlotte Christian before moving on to play at the collegiate level at Motlow State and the University of North Alabama. He earned a BLS from Wingate University and is currently part of the middle school faculty at Covenant Day School. Houseton has seventeen years of coaching experience at the high school level and in travel ball circles. He coached for eight years at Charlotte Christian and then joined the Covenant Day staff as the Varsity Head Baseball Coach in 2009. Houseton has been named Coach of the Year by Matthews Mint Hill Weekly and also coached the gold medal-winning State Games/Region 6 team in 2016. He is also heavily involved with USA Baseball as part of their National Athlete Development staff, serving as an assistant coach for the 13U ADP Stars team.
Mark Murray I Assistant Coach
Coach Murray was born and raised in Orange Park, Florida where he graduated from Orange Park High School.Murray was a four (4) year varsity letterman in baseball, winning three (3) district championships.His playing career continued as a scholarship pitcher for Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.He graduated in 1996 with his degree in Biomedical Engineering.Murray has twelve (12) years of coaching experience in the travel ball circuit for various programs in Middle Tennessee.He recently relocated to the Charlotte area after 28 years in Nashville.This will be Coach Murray’s first season as part of the CDS coaching staff.
