Rachael Klohr - Head Coach

Hometown: Reading, Pennsylvania
Education: B.S., Biology, Messiah College. Masters, Education, University of Pittsburgh
Started coaching at CDS: I coached at CDS during the 2010-2011 season. After serving as the Head Coach at Houghton College, I returned to CDS in 2015.
Field Hockey Experience: Following four years of Varsity Field Hockey, Coach Klohr played at Messiah College. During that time, she was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2005 and was recognized as 3rd in the nation in defensive saves for the NCAA at the D3 level.
She has 15 years of coaching experience at both the college and high school levels in field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and basketball. She was an assistant field hockey coach at Robert Morris University (D1), and the head field hockey coach at Houghton College (D3). She also served as the head women's lacrosse coach at Houghton, where she pioneered the program. In 2015, Coach Klohr started the field hockey program at Covenant Day, which has grown to include a middle school team as well.
Favorite CDS sports memory: Thinking about the first game ever at CDS losing to Country Day 10-0. Then 7 years later, going to the State Finals in 2022. The difference in play from then to now is one of my favorite reflections about this program.
Hobbies: Some of my hobbies include golfing with my husband, running, going to Charlotte FC games, gardening and family game nights.
Fun Fact: I almost died in a bus accident on a mission trip in Venezuela! Also, all my immediate family members (Jason, Julius, Alexis, Andrea, and Isabelle) have either attended, currently attend or work at CDS!
