Caitlin Kasten Breaks the NC All-Time Record
Caitlin Kasten broke the 22-year-old North Carolina 2,000-meter Steeplechase twice! She took down the state record at 6:59.30 in her 2,000-meter steeplechase debut. Then, a couple of weeks later, she broke her own record with a 6:39.38 time at the New Balance Nationals.
With these times, Caitlin became the first girl in North Carolina history to run under the 7-minute barrier, which was good enough for No. 12 in the U.S. this season. This time also broke the All-Time U.S. Freshman record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, and she finished fourth overall, meaning she ran the fourth-fastest time in the nation this year!
