Eaton and Barto named to Nexus Championship Teams

CDS Alum Emily Eaton ’24 and freshman Taylor Barto ’29 have been named to the Junior and Senior Nexus Championship teams. Nexus, USA Field Hockey’s talent development program, helps youth master the sport and connect with top coaches.

Both Emily and Taylor will compete in the annual July tournament in Virginia Beach, VA. Taylor will play with U18 athletes nationwide.

Emily is one of 144 athletes in the Nexus Senior Championship. This event is a selection opportunity for the 2026-27 Junior US Women’s National Team Selection Camps, National Development Squad, and US Women’s National Team.

Emily Eaton is among the most decorated in CDS athletics history. As the CDS All-Time Leading Goal Scorer, she earned CDS Field Hockey MVP, CISAA Conference Player of the Year, and NCISAA Player of the Year honors as a senior. Emily was selected for CISAA First-Team All-Conference and NCISAA All-State Teams in her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Her selection to the USA Field Hockey U18 National Team and recruitment to top-10-ranked Louisville best demonstrate her prowess.

At Louisville, Emily earned ACC Academic Team, NFHCA Academic Squad, and NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors. After two seasons, she transferred to the University of Virginia.

Since joining Varsity as an 8th grader, Taylor has made her mark. After her 8th-grade and freshman seasons, she was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-State Team. She also earned a spot on the Charlotte Observer’s 2025 All-Observer Team and won Newcomer of the Year at the first annual Covey’s. An active Charlotte Ambush member, Taylor was selected for the 2025 U16 Junior Nexus Championship.
