2024 Fall Sports Highlights

2024 FALL RECAP

Varsity Cheerleading

Varsity cheerleading was a constant presence on the sidelines during Friday Night Lights all season. Adeline Barlow and Sarah Grattan earned First Team All-CISAA honors, while Eliza Reilly and Lilly Queen earned Second Team All-Conference accolades.

Varsity Boys Cross Country

Boys' cross country had another solid season of growth, with several athletes achieving personal best times. Junior Ethan Welsh finished 7th at the CISAA Championship meet, earning First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive year. Sophomore Sawyer Duncan and freshman Hudson Aggett were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Varsity Girls Cross Country

Sophomore Caitlin Kasten had a breakout season, winning both the CISAA and NCISAA Championship meets. She was named CISAA Runner of the Year and earned CISAA First Team and NCISAA All-State honors. Senior Maggie Dirks also had a great season, finishing 9th in the State Championship with a personal best time of 19:02. Cailtin Kasten earned Charlotte All-Observer First Team honorees.

Varsity Field Hockey

Head coach Rachael Klohr made the most of the change in conference rules, allowing 8th graders to play on varsity. 8th grader Taylor Barto had an immediate impact on the team, earning First Team All-Conference and All-State honors. Sophomore Ann Randolph Bryan and 8th grader Callie Welsh were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Taylor Barto was named to the Charlotte All-Observer First Team.

Varsity Football

It was a unique first season for head coach Mike Hawks after multiple games were affected by a rainy fall. However, the team took the schedule changes in stride and played with tenacity and grit all season. Six varsity football players received All-Conference honors, including Tucker Collins (Linebacker), Tyler Dennison (Defensive Back), Jakota Hase (Wide Receiver), Teddy Helton III (Wide Receiver), Michael Moffat (Defensive Line), and Zane Wagner (Offensive Line). In addition, Tucker Collins (Linebacker), Tyler Dennison (Defensive Back), Michael Moffat (Defensive Line), and Zane Wagner (Offensive Line) earned NCISAA All-State honors. Five players were also selected to participate in the Gatlinburg All-American Bowl, including Daniel Phillips (Offensive Line), Zane Wagner (Offensive Line), Jakota Hase (Wide Receiver), Teddy Helton III (Wide Receiver), and Joshua Scott (Wide Receiver).

Varsity Girls Golf

In the program's third season, head coach Aaron Helms continued to build a solid foundation. Freshman Alivia Helms had a remarkable season. She finished 6th in the CISAA Championships and qualified for the NCISAA Championships, where she placed 10th. Alivia earned a spot on the First Team all-CISAA.

Varsity Boys Soccer

Led by CDS alum Julius Klohr, CDS Varsity Soccer made their first-ever NCISAA 4A State Championship game appearance this season. Junior Brady Johnson and Senior Sean Freace made the All-Conference First and NCISAA All-State teams. Junior Jeronimo Vargas joined them on the All-Conference Second Team. Sean Freace was named to the Charlotte All-Obserer First Team, and Brady Johnson joined him on the Second Team.

Varsity Girls Tennis

Varsity Girls Tennis played the entire season with grit, class, and joy. Their season was highlighted by a 6-1 win over Carmel Christian and a 9-0 victory over SouthLake Chrisitan. Junior Holland Gray earned Second Team All-Conference honors. 

Varsity Girls Volleyball

In her 22nd season, head coach Heather Mills continued her legacy. Junior Avery Houseton made the All-Conference Second Team.
