2023-2024 Athletes of the Year
Blake Van Der Schaaf named Emily Eaton and Colden Welsh the Covenant Day School Athletes of the Year. In a letter to the CDS community, Blake said, "These two athletes will graduate as two of the most decorated athletes in CDS history and will be etched in our record books forever."
After her senior season, Emily was named the field hockey MVP and the CISAA Conference Player of the Year and leaves CDS as the all-time leading scorer, with 34 career goals. She was also named to the CISAA All-Conference First Team for three seasons and the NCISAA All-State Team. Emily has been recognized not only in our community but also at a national level. She was selected to the USA Field Hockey u18 National Team and was recruited to Louisville, a top-10 ranked Division 1 program.
Colden Welsh, a standout four-year varsity athlete in cross country and track & field at CDS, has left his mark at CDS, holding records in the 300m, 1600m, 3200m, 2000m steeplechase, and 5000m. His achievements include being named First Team All-Conference in cross country every year and track & field for two years. Colden's stellar performance culminated in him earning the CISAA Cross Country Runner of the Year title after winning the conference championship meet. This fall, Colden will continue his athletic journey at Colorado Christian University, where he has signed to compete in cross country and track & field for their Division II program in the highly competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
As Emily and Colden leave our CDS community, they do so with a legacy of excellence and humble leadership that will continue to inspire us all.
