International Program

What's been so wonderful is that this person who was a stranger to us is now a part of our family.

- Sasha Williams, Host Parent

Why Covenant Day?

Covenant Day's International Program enables the exchange of cultural experiences, foreign languages, and traditions and helps our student body reflect the global nature of God’s kingdom, which includes “every tribe and language and people and nation” (Rev. 5:9). The program has welcomed high school students from around the world, including Haiti, France, Germany, China, Ethiopia, Honduras, and Nigeria. Students get the opportunity to live with host families during the school year as they learn more about American culture through their experiences at Covenant Day both inside and outside of the classroom. In addition, Covenant Day offers personalized college counseling, and caring host families to its international students. Students benefit from a safe learning environment where they can excel academically, explore extracurricular interests, develop friendships, and prepare for success in a university setting after graduation.

Location

Covenant Day School is situated in Matthews, NC, a suburb of Charlotte, NC, a large city ideally located in the U.S. due to its proximity to mountains (2 hours), beaches (3.5 hours), and many major metropolitan areas. The Charlotte International Airport provides easy access to international or intercontinental U.S. flights. Charlotte offers a rich cultural experience with professional soccer, football, hockey, baseball, and basketball teams as well as many museums, including The Mint Museum, Harvey Gantt, Discovery Place Science, Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, The NASCAR Hall of Fame, and The Billy Graham Library. In addition, there are many beautiful parks and greenways throughout the city.
