THE GREATEST PART: Lessons from Peter Pan Jr.
“It doesn’t matter what your role on stage is, it’s about how the Lord uses it. And it’s not something she went into the play thinking about. I think it’s something she came out of the play realizing.”
Every Fall the middle school produces a play. While these performances are always extraordinary, Susan Watson got to watch her daughter Abby take on an unexpected, and ultimately more impactful, role in this year’s production of Peter Pan Jr.
TOUGH CONVERSATIONS
Events of the last few years have pushed each of us to wrestle with the challenging topics of race, racial/ethnic diversity, and God’s calling on our lives. We sat down with a few high school seniors to hear about their experiences confronting these topics at Covenant Day.
What’s the atmosphere been like at CDS around these topics?
Margaret: Something I’ve really noticed in the last couple of years is how willing the teachers are to engage in difficult conversations. Especially in Mr. Hill’s class, we’re having conversations that are hard to have about inclusivity and diversity and what that means for our school and beyond. So, I think it’s really encouraging to see our teachers fostering spaces, especially like this one right now, where we can discuss what diversity means to us and what we are hoping for in the future.
CROSS COUNTRY: The pack that lives and grows together
“Before we get on the line at a meet, we all run 20 yards out and then huddle up and remind ourselves that we are not running for ourselves. We are not running just to finish or to get a time that we kind of like. We are running for God and for the guys around us. That gives us the motivation to lay every last ounce of energy on the course and to be more competitive,” said Colden Welsh, a sophomore who has been running cross country for three years.

Mrs. Mace's love and dedication go beyond the school year! Not only is she a third-grade lead teacher, but she's also a Bible teacher during the summer at Camp Lion. When asked why she works at Camp Lion during the summer, Mrs. Mace said, "How can you not teach the word of God!?"

Mark Davis shares his experience flyfishing with a CDS alumni:
Meet Miller Watson, professional flyfishing guide from Waynesville, NC, and graduate of the Covenant Day School Class of ’08. He is a member of the Hunter Banks Fly Fishing Sales and Guide team in Ashville and to say he is passionate about the outdoors and North Carolina rivers is an understatement.

Covenant Day's annual Turkey Trot puts the FUN in "fun run!" This November, lower school students and parents gathered for a 1-mile/3k Turkey Trot to get some outdoor exercise and donate items for Bright Blessings, a local charity supporting homeless and impoverished children. Over a dozen post office crates filled with hygiene products were delivered to Bright Blessings and used to help families during the holidays and over the winter.
