Important Re-enrollment Information
The re-enrollment deadline for the 2015-2016 school year is Tuesday, February 17. It is important to meet this deadline in order to secure your student's enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year. Offers of enrollment cannot be guaranteed after this deadline. Thank you to those who have already completed the process. An email was sent out this month and allows you to access our online process for re-enrollment. If you did not receive that email, or if you are having problems completing re-enrollment, please call Karen Logterman at 704-708-6129.
School-Wide Family Fun Night
Don't miss the Parents Association Family Fun Night on Friday, January 30 — featuring a chili taste-off at the CDS basketball games. Come cheer on the Lions, taste chili samples (while they last), and vote for your favorite. Fun for everyone including halftime contests and prizes! Chili tasting begins at 6:00 p.m.
Calling All Cooks of All Ages!
Do you make a great chili? To find out more about entering the chili taste-off competition or to volunteer to serve, go to our SignUp Genius page. Prize(s) for chili will be awarded at 8:00 p.m. Concessions will also be open during this event selling pizza, snacks, and drinks.
Head of School Parent Forum
Join Mark Davis on Thursday, February 5 for a small group discussion of "The Complexity and Joys of Raising 21st Century Kids." The program will be from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Fireplace Room (middle school building). Enjoy light refreshments (starting at 7:45 a.m.) while you share your thoughts, ask questions, or simply listen. No preparation required. Parents from all three schools will find it meaningful. Mark your calendars and don't miss this great opportunity for Christian discussion.
McKnight Oratory Contest
The H. Brent McKnight Justice and Mercy Oratory Contest will be held on Monday, February 9 in the HS media center starting at 7:00 p.m. The contest, for Covenant Day School seniors, includes a $1,000 prize. Students are given a prompt and are required to write and deliver a speech on how justice and mercy are demonstrated in a current issue. The contest was created to honor the life and character of the Honorable Brent McKnight, a federal judge who served in North Carolina.
Driver's Education Classes
Covenant Day School is hosting a driver's education class over winter break. The class will be held February 16-20 (Monday-Friday) from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the CDS high school building. Covenant College Trip
Mr. Tapp and Mrs. Schmidt will be taking a small group of high school students to Covenant College. The trip is March 5-7. Space is limited, so please sign up soon in the high school office.
RSVP Needed for Middle School Father/Daughter Breakfast
RSVP on our SignUp Genius page for the Middle School Father/Daughter Breakfast sponsored by the Parents Association. The event will be Thursday, February 12, 7:30-8:15 a.m. in the Fireplace Room. Make sure you reserve your spot for this special event. Fathers will enjoy precious time with their middle school daughters, light breakfast fare, and a short discussion by Mr. Steve Hicks, CDS high school language arts teacher.

Video Clips Wanted
The yearbook staff is looking for video clips to include in this year’s edition of The Pride. We will be launching new Aurasma technology where scanning a smart phone over still photos makes the picture come to life. Moms Managing Media February Meeting
Teens, Tweens and Texting, Oh my! Learn what you don't know and what your kids do know about social media! We'll be talking about it at the next meeting of Moms Managing Media on Thursday, February 5 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Fireplace Room (middle school building). Join us as guest speaker, Genevieve Holmes, provides a parent’s guide to texting (beyond the basics), apps, and parental controls.
