Academic Coaching: New Program Offering from the Academic Resources Department
Academic Coaching is a service that has been previously offered at CDS but is being expanded for the next academic year to include lower, middle, and high school. The goal is to provide test-taking strategies, study skills, time management techniques, and organizational help for students. It will also include "light tutoring." This is a 1:1 program which will be individualized toward a student's specific learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. There is a fee in addition to tuition for participation in this program. Session quantity varies with the grade and schedule of the student. Space is limited. For more information, please contact Rebekah Leonard, Director of Academic Resources, at rleonard@covenantday.org.

MMMMoms Managing Media
Do you struggle with setting gaming limits in your home? Do you need help with parental controls and technology balance? Join us the first Thursday of each month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Fireplace Room for a series of meetings/discussions. Childcare is available. Our first meeting for the fall is on September 4; we will be discussing how screen time impacts children's learning potential. For more information and a downloadable flyer with the complete fall programming schedule, please go to the CDS Parent Resources page.

Each class will include violin technique through scales and exercises, ear training and music theory and how it directly relates to playing the violin, reviewing old songs, and learning new songs. Students will also be learning accompaniment parts to match their individual level of experience. There will be occasional additions to the Suzuki repertoire.

When enrolling in this class, please indicate the student’s current level of experience including Suzuki book and song last learned. Please contact Julie Johnson at sailingjulie@windstream.net or 704-234-2514 (sorry, no text) to answer any questions.
