admissions process
It is our pleasure to work with families as they begin the admissions process. You will find some of the main steps of the process listed below:
Admissions Open Houses and Tours:
You are cordially invited to visit Covenant Day School. In addition to visiting one of our Open Houses, parents/guardians are welcome to schedule a private school tour and to visit our classrooms on an individual basis. To RSVP for an Open House or to schedule a private tour, contact the Admissions Office at 704.708.6127. Covenant Day School will host an Admissions Open House on Wednesday, October 26. The program will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Application Procedure:
The admissions process begins with the submission of the Student Application along with the non-refundable application fee. The completed application and fee places your student on the enrollment list and begins the admissions process.
Application Dates:
Priority Registration is November 1-14. This includes registration of members of Christ Covenant Church and siblings of current CDS students.
Open Registration begins November 15. Parents then request transcripts and teacher recommendations from their child’s previous school or preschool. A pastor’s recommendation for the family is also required. Admissions testing is scheduled by the Admissions Office. Prospective students must pass the admissions tests to be considered for enrollment.
Testing:
Transitional Kindergarten admission does not require testing. The Admissions Office will schedule both group and individual testing for K-12. Kindergarten admissions testing takes place in late January and early February, preceding enrollment in August. Testing of students in grades 1-12 typically begins in December preceding enrollment in August. The Admissions Office will notify each family to arrange for testing and to confirm test dates.
Notification of Test Results:
Parents/guardians will be notified concerning the outcome of the testing process when the above procedures have been completed. Notification of test results will occur as soon as possible after testing is completed.
Interview:
Covenant Day School will call your family to schedule an interview with the Head of School or one of the Principals. For prospective students in grades 6-12, the student will also be included in the interview.
