Compensation
Covenant Day School is pleased to be able to offer our teachers salaries that are competitive with both public and private schools. The CDS pay scale, which is benchmarked against the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School system, combines the best features of a standard pay scale with professional pay. A stipend is also paid to teachers holding advanced masters or doctoral degrees. This innovative and very competitive pay plan means that (a) CDS teachers have the potential to earn salaries higher than their public school counterparts, (b) CDS teachers are among the highest paid teachers in the SE and many other parts of the country, and (c) that CDS teachers are among the highest paid teachers in either Christian or private schools in the country.
Licensure Benefits
In addition to the competitive pay plan, the school provides the following benefits to full-time faculty: LICENSURE: Covenant Day School is approved by the state of North Carolina as an Initial Licensure Program school. This enables CDS to guide teachers who have Standard Professional I NC state licensure to earn their Professional Standard Professional II NC state licenses. This process provides mentoring, evaluation, and guidance. Once a teacher obtains a Standard Professional II NC teaching license, the license is renewable every five years. Teachers coming from out of state may be able to get Standard Professional I licenses based on reciprocity OR might qualify for a continuing license if they have taught for 3 or more years in a public school out of state.
Medical & Other Benefits
Covenant Day provides a host of other benefits including, school paid employee coverage Major Medical including annual physical, prescription coverage (with co-pay), dental coverage, Short Term Disability, Life Insurance, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. Optional Flexible Benefits Plan for qualified pre-tax medical/dental expenses and Pre-Tax Savings Plan 403(b)(7). Tuition Remission and employer contributions to a 403(b)7 is also provided. In addition, after one year of service, Educational Assistance for approved graduate programs is available for 50% of tuition.
Laptop Computers for Teachers
Covenant Day School is committed to our teachers and students utilizing the technology of the 21st century. An essential part of this is providing our teachers and students with access to sophisticated computer and telecommunications technology. Accordingly, all full-time teachers and selected part-time teachers are provided a laptop computer, email account, support, and training. The school provides systematic computer training.
